Madison County, Ohio Newspaper Clippings

Hi there! This site was started on 11th May 2001, and it used to be updated often, but as you can see, it has hardly been updated in the past four years. That would be from me going to college and then moving to the District of Columbia for my job.... So, I haven't been as involved in acquiring new genealogical resources. I do respond to all emails if you have any questions, and my dad is still very involved in family history research.
This site is a searchable database of various newspaper clippings from Madison County, Ohio and the bordering counties (with ties to Madison Co.). The articles are from the 1850's through the present. However, most of the articles are from the 1860's through the 1910's. Scroll down near the bottom of the page to search the newspaper articles.
***Useful tip!***I worked on an archaeological excavation in rural northern Kentucky for my archaeology class in spring '02 during my freshman year of college. It was a cemetery that we were working on that day, but we did a little recording of headstones. One of the archaeologists showed me his way of making out those "hard-to-read" gravemarkers - use shaving cream! Shaving cream works soooo much better than chalk. It's pretty amazing; you can even read tiny, italicized writing that has already begun to wear away. But the big reason to use shaving cream instead of chalk is that chalk causes the headstone to erode away over time... that is what chalk does...but shaving cream is just soap. It washes away the next time it rains. So, the next time you go on a researching trip, bring along your shaving kit! ~ Eileen

Just type in the name, date, word, or whatever you are looking for and this will search all of the articles on the site for that name, date, word, etc. Best of luck!

Yeah, this link isn't working for some reason. Maybe the site will be back up soon.
